Short term memory loss (Demo) by wood.

Afgelopen zaterdagavond in café de flierefluiter: WOOD’s eerste presentatie van gelijk twee cd’s: ‘the wood album’ en ‘the space without anxiety’.

Nu al twee cd’s, dan vraag je je af: waar is WOOD al die tijd geweest? Waarom hebben wij hier in Apeldoorn nog niet eerder van ze gehoord?” Voor WOOD is die tijd heel vanzelfsprekend geweest: bezig zijn met nieuwe ontwikkelingen in de muziek wereld.

Maar voor ik verder ga stel ik ze graag aan jullie voor: WOOD is een experimenterende en improviserende driemansformatie die eigenzinnig eigen werk speelt. De band bestaat uit Wouter Loderichs (zang/gitaar/percussie) Elroy Hasselt (bas/zang/percussie) Erwin Koninks (drums/sampler) Special gast: MT-yidaki (didge). De muziek is een mix van hip/triphopfunk/rock/intrumental/blues en veel meer. Of te wel: “SciFi Blues” in de, zoals zij zelf zeggen: ‘love it or hate it kinda way’.

Iedere try out is spannend, zowel voor het publiek (‘MySpace’ volgers en andere fans) als de bandleden, maar na drie nummers was de spanning er zichtbaar af en werd je volledig meegenomen in hun muziek. Muziek met invloeden van wereldformaat, on-Apeldoorns, meer stedelijk met Australische invloeden en special sound effects, onder andere door sampling en het bespelen van een instrument op een creatieve manier.

En WOOD deed het goed. Geluiden uit de zaal gaven al aan dat de flierefluiter te klein was voor hun grootse muziek. Dan zet je toch gelijk iets nieuws neer in een ‘love it kinda way’. Volgend jaar Gigant?
